Over the past five years, the Madeleine Sanam Foundation has been organizing African Nights. Each event of
the African Nights was hosted in various bars and pubs in the City of Edmonton. All the funds raised over
the past years have been directly used in sustaining the various program and services provided by the
Madeleine Sanam Foundation. We would like to thank you for all the support over the years, and hope for
your continued support in the future.

A Big Thank You
Dear Guests and Performers,
On behalf of the Madeleine Sanam Foundation I would like to sincerely thank you for supporting our
fundraising concert on July 16th, 2010 at Ceili’s Irish Pub. We greatly appreciated all the support you
have shown in our efforts to reduce the number of people affected by HIV/AIDS.
The success of our foundation depends on the partnership with businesses, foundations, and people within
the community such as you. Your contribution to this worthy cause is very helpful and the money raised at
the concert will go to sustain and improve our valuable programs that include:
HIV/AIDS 101, a training program that teaches the basic knowledge on HIV/AIDS, the possible origins of the
virus, how it is spread, the course of the disease, the treatment, and the epidemiology of the virus. The
course also teaches how to provide a support system to those in the community who are HIV positive or have
families in Africa who are coping with HIV/AIDS.
Another program we offer is Train the Trainer, during which participants complete a 14 hour course that
includes a compressed version of the HIV 101 course, a discussion on the determinants of health (income and
social status), and how empowering women through education and independence reduces their chance of
contracting the virus. The course develops the leadership skills of women so that they can deliver their
own culturally sensitive and language specific resources and courses.
Thank you again for your generous support and we look forward in seeing you at our future events.
Sincerely,
Alex Chow
