  • Poverty
  • Myths

What are the five factors necessary to transmit HIV?

When a person is infected with HIV, all body fluids will contain a certain number of viruses. The viruses mainly appear in liquids containing a high-protein concentration such as blood and sperm. Liquids such as saliva, tears, urine and stools contain a weak concentration of the virus. The five factors necessary to the HIV transmission are:

  • A HIV infected person
  • The virus must come out of the infected person’s-- body
  • Another person (partner)
  • The virus must penetrate the body of the other person
  • A high enough virus concentration for transmission to the partner
