Muru Khamisi AbditamLiaison officer with African organizationsBiography Muru is a former military pilot for the Ugandan army; he has competency in engineering. He has lived in Canada for 20 years and he is known as a charismatic leader among the African and Caribbean communities in Edmonton. Muru gives training in African drumming and in community facilitation. Muru is also the founder of Ugandan Relief Foundation of North America and of Council of Black Organization of Alberta. Muru is a member of the Immigrant Neighbourhood Community Partnership and the Edmonton Flying Club (since 1985). He has received numerous prizes from the community such as the one given by the Edmonton Police (2003), AMFA (2003), Movement Afro Caribbean Dance Ensemble (2002) and the Catholic Social Services (1999). Muru is experienced when it comes his actions with the African community and thanks to his priceless international experience, as a board member, he has greatly contributed to the Madeleine Sanam Foundation’s campaign for awareness on HIV/AIDS. |
