Tatjana Alvadj-KorenicHealth Promotion CoordinatorBiography Tatjana was born in 1960, in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina (Ex-Yugoslavia). She received her diploma from Zagreb University in 1986 with a BA in Art history and a second in Language and Polish literature. She works as a journalist and museum conservator with a particular interest for contemporary visual arts. From 1992 to 1996, after the tragic war in Ex-Yugoslavia, she found refuge in Zagreb, Croatia where she managed, not without pain, to survive with her husband and her son. In 1996, Tatjana arrived in Edmonton with her family. Since 1998, in her personal fight to better understand her changing identity, she has become interested in intercultural communication since 1998. Furthermore, since 2000, Tatjana remembers numerous cases of Bosnian women rapes during the war. Questions about sex, sexuality and power are among her interests. She contributed to Planned Parenthood as a sexual educator for etchnocultural communities and is presently working mostly with immigrant women by offering her support, information and resources in accordance with their needs. Tatjana carries on her studies to obtain a master degree in Anthropology since 2002. Her thesis is about immigrant women and their fertility. |
