Our Community Radio Workshops

The Madeleine Sanam Foundation, in collaboration with CJSR 88.5 FM radio station, produces a weekly one-hour francophone program called Fourre-Tout to promote Canadian and international francophone alternative music. We offer training in production and programming techniques as well as radio animation to young people and adults who want to host programs in their language to different listeners.

Our Team

Animators: Marc Labelle, Jo-Anne Nolette
Coordinator and animator: Gilbert Goulet(780) 908-7939
Producer: Chantal Londji Dang (780) 490-7332

Concept

Fourre-tout is defined as a bag pack in which we can put all kinds of objects. Fourre-tout comes from the French words fourrure (fur) and fourrer (fill) that means filled in the inside. Even though some have taught that it might have been an erotic program, we are far from being an erotic program. The name Fourre-Tout defines the program because we play all kind of music for all ages. Each deejay has his/her own style which gives the program its own identity.

Mission

Fourre-Tout aims to give the francophone population of Edmonton a communication tool to express themselves in promoting the cultural development and entertainment through francophone alternative music.

Fourre-Tout is meant to inform, entertain and unify the francophone community while creating bonds between its different cultural components in Edmonton. The program is committed by its programming to reflect particular characteristics of the cultural mosaic of Edmonton.

Fourre-Tout is broadcasted every Sunday from 9 to 10 and is dedicated to francophone artists from around the globe. We concentrate on alternative francophone music of all kinds (rock, folk, techno, rap, reggae, jazz, world beat, tango, samba, etc.)

Alternative music must be distinguished from the commercial kind and demonstrates a deep research, an experimental kind, in a word, its original music.

How this program involves the community?

We are available to individuals and community organizations who want to share their cultural projects, ideas and contributions.

Fourre-Tout is involved in the community through live broadcastings of cultural and artistic events in Edmonton and its immediate area.

Our long-term objectives

Train and support the Francophone community’s young talents and produce educative and entertaining programs giving them the possibility to be involved in community radio. To increase the on-air time for Francophone programming on an existing Anglophone radio.
